Hi there! My name is Jopa Velozo and I'm a guitarist, songwriter and arranger from Rio de Janeiro. After getting a scholarship, I moved to Boston in 2011 and I went to Berklee College of Music, where I have graduated during the last Summer. I'm interested in many different kinds of music, specially 60's and contemporary jazz, bossa nova, traditional samba, 70's, 90's and contemporary rock, and I've been working with all of them as much as I can. Before coming to Boston, I lived in Sao Paulo for five years and I have worked as guitarist and arranger for the Brazilan jazz ensemble Bolaoito Octet and with the jazz quartet Dois e Dois. Here in Boston I'm currently working as a freelancer musician with different groups and with my personal projects; the  samba group Acadêmicos de Milton Friedman, the rock collective The Plan of the Plains and I'm also working with Brazilian combo, Eight-Ball Octet.
